Songtsen Library; Center for Tibetan and Himalayan studies Collects,
Catalogues, Preserves and disseminates on wide range of disciplines
on Tibet and the Himalayas.
The Library is fully computerized with latest technology.
The primary collection includes the reproductions of Tibetan texts
and Art from Central Asia discovered by archeologists in the early
20th century particularly on the famed silk route, which run from
China to erstwhile Persia.
Important Collections:
a) bka’ ‘gyur (Tripitaka) and bstan ‘gyur (commentaries
of great scholars) in following publication and languages.

b) Other collection includes Commentaries and teachings of great

d) Special Collection:
Personal Collections of Lama Anagarika Govinda. He was a German
scholar and was one of the foremost westerners who studied Buddhism
in Tibet. He spent many years in retreat in the Himalayan region
of Almora. On returning to his native country, he left some of his personal
collection of books, periodicals and journals to W. Y. Evans-Wentz
who left the collection for Songtsen Library.
